Located in the city of Curitiba – in Paraná State, Brazil – Chagdud Gonpa Dordje Ling offers teachings and practices of meditation in the Nyingma tradition of Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism and belongs to Chagdud Gonpa Brazil, established in our country in 1994 by his eminence Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche. It is part of an international network of centers whose origin is Chagdud Gonpa in Tibet, a monastery founded in the 15th century.
Currently Chagdud Gonpa Dordje Ling holds meditation practices in a large tent – in the city center of Curitiba. Lama Yeshe and Lama Rigdzin coordinate the activities and it is because of the generosity of their activities that the tradition of teachings in Vajrayana Buddhism of the Nyingma school – the school of the old tradition -is maintained for the benefit of all beings.
For over 10 years the Lamas and the Buddhist community of Curitiba have spared no efforts towards building a traditional Buddhist Temple. After working ceaselessly to buy the land, elaborate the architectural project and go through all the legal stages (like getting the permissions from the city council as well as all the necessary environmental licenses) the project has finally gotten the green light to begin construction!
With approximately two and a half acres of beautifully preserved native forest and at the same time strategically located in the heart of Curitiba, the Chagdud Gonpa Dordje Ling Temple is being built to receive great contemporary teachers and Buddhist Masters and to host important ceremonies in the Buddhist tradition.
In his last visit to Curitiba, when asked by his students when he would return, Rinpoche answered:
I will return when you have built a stupa and a temple.

Both visits to and volunteer work on the construction of the temple are not yet allowed because of health and safety standards regulating construction projects in our Brazil.
